unRAID 6.2 won't load with VT-d enabled

Featured Replies

Trying to set up unRAID 6.2 on the following hardware:

Gigabyte GA-EX58-UD5 using a bios version someone else received from Gigabyte to add a menu to enable VT-d

i7-920

6 GB Ram

XFX R5-220 in X16_1

Gigabyte GV-R478D5-1GD in X16_2

Intel 530 SSD

and a host of other HDDs

If I leave VT-d disabled, unRAID will load.  If I enable VT-d, unRAID stops with this on screen:

and it stops here.

I have been able to run 6.1.9 successfully, but am having issues with VMs, but that's for another post.

Do you have any Marvel disk controllers? It seems they have issues with vt-d/iommu. If so, you will need to do firmware updates for the Marvel controller.

According to the manual, I have 6 ports on an Intel® ICH10R, and 2 ports each on 2 JMB322 multipliers coming from a Gigabyte SATA2 controller.

I also disabled the secondary controller in BIOS and still had no luck.

Just my guess, someone at Gigabyte updated the BIOS to enable vt-d, but hasn't finished...  hasn't updated it enough to actually work!  Keep checking for further BIOS updates, or switch to a different board.

So why does IOMMU show as enabled when I use 6.1.9, but not 6.2?

Disable your onboard sound.

I'm using an ASUS P6T Deluxe v2 (x58 chipset) and got the same screen as you. 6.19 worked fine with VT-D, but not 6.20/6.21

I'm having the same error, using an ASROCK X58 Supercomputer, disabled the onboard audio, no luck...
