This is mainly a place for me to memorialize what I've done so far to get this VM running. I spent an hour chasing down working settings, so maybe if I commit it to a post, I can find the info later.

 

1. Download debian 8.3 netinst amd64 iso

2. Select debian template and assign OS install and vdisk.

3. Install with VNC, add remote desktop client.

4. Install kernel headers, then install nvidia-driver from jessie-backports

5. Shut down, change VNC to nvidia GT720 video and sound to nvidia gk208, start back up.

6. Create /etc/modprobe.d/sound.conf with options snd-hda-intel enable_msi=1

7. Uncomment default-sample-channels=2 and change it to 6 in /etc/pulse/daemon.conf
