New disk caused issues with unRAID boot sequence

Featured Replies

I received a new HTST drive model HDS723020ALA640.  I installed it in the box and attempted to boot unRAID normally. It took several minutes longer to boot and then the GUI was unresponsive.  I powered down, disconnected the drive, unRAID booted normally. I tried again, power down, connected drive, powered up and it took forever. I switched the monitor over to watch the video feed from the unRAID box and saw a lot more linux go by on the screen than normal.

Is there a way to capture that so I can upload it to this thread?

I put the drive in a USB enclosure and plugged it into a windows machine. Windows recognized it in disk manager. I didn't try initializing or formatting it.

Any suggestions or do I need to ship this drive back to the seller?

thx

When you tried it again with the drive, did the webUI work?

No, I plugged the drive in/out and restarted at least 4 times using different sata ports and cables. Each time the GUI was unresponsive or VERY slow when this drive was connected.  It was the next day that another drive red-ex apparently because of a bad sata cable.
