April 1, 201610 yr Hi, i'm planning to use unraid to use my pc as a normal pc and nas at the same time. Unfortunately i can only access the internet via openconnect (university vpn), but on windows openconnect disables all other network interfaces when connecting to the vpn, so i cant reach any other devices in the network. however, on linux it just works fine, so i thought to install openconnect on the host machine where unraid is running, then connecting to the vpn and then allocate the tun0 network adapter from openconnect and the normal network adapter to the windows vm. then my windows vm should have web access and local network access. however i tried to install openconnect on unraid via "apt-get install openconnect" but the unraid machine doesnt even know then apt-get command. so is there any way to install openconnect on the unraid machine or not? i hope you can understand what my problem is short form: - install openconnect on unraid host machine - connect to a vpn (-> new network adapter tun0) - create windows vm - assign tun0 and br0 to the windows vm
April 2, 201610 yr Community Expert I think it is unlikely you will get openConnect successfully installed directly on unRAID (although I could be wrong) as unRAID uses a stripped down Slackware version of Linux so it is likely that many dependencies required by openConnect will be missing. What do you want to be able to access on the local network from the Windows VM? The answer might help others suggest a way forward.
April 2, 201610 yr Author Just a NAS is it possible to get all the dependencies needed and install them on unraid?
April 3, 201610 yr Author Ok i just found a nice program called pfsense, which can handle openconnect and can turn my nas into a router, so i think i'll try that
April 3, 201610 yr pfsense on Unraid has been discussed a lot. Try a forum search, there are disadvantages to having it virtualised on Unraid.
