April 2, 201610 yr I'm getting the following errors on two of the disks in my array periodically. I've tried changing SATA cables and on one of the drives is seemed to reduce the amount of times this happens but I still get the occasional error. Also these hard resets occur quite a bit if I'm doing a parity sync. Not getting any sync errors after parity check is done and the SMART reports on the disks are clean... what else could be causing this? Could it be that I've swapped the SATA cables with more bad SATA cables?? None of these hard resets seem to have any impact on the operation of my server but this can't be a good thing... April 4, 201610 yr Author Power splitters! Wow, I never heard that one before. With 10 disks, how can I NOT use them? There aren't enough coming out of the power supply for 10 disks... Suggestion on that? As for SATA cables I don't have them bundled or tied together but naturally with so many of them they do run close to each other in many cases, especially near the connectors on the motherboard... What can be done about this?
April 4, 201610 yr Power splitters! Wow, I never heard that one before. With 10 disks, how can I NOT use them? He's not saying to not use them, but the connections can be temperamental, so you need to reseat every power connection and check for a loose fit. Replace any splitters that don't seat tightly.
April 4, 201610 yr Author ok... I've done that a few times as well. I've been running a couple of days now with no link resets, although that could just be a result of not as much disk activity... I'll take a closer look at the splitters I'm using and maybe replace them, thanks.
