PC Support for family, any ideas?

Hi guys,

I have a brand new 1TB drive that needs to go into a machine for my dad that needs Windows. I don't have a CD drive for windows, but I do have an ISO (and no additional USB flash drive)

How would I go about putting the 1TB into my UnRaid server and formatting it to be bootable with windows so it can go into my dad's PC?

I'm using UnRaid as my only machine (with Windows 10 installed/KVM) at the moment and don't have access to another.

Was wondering if you guys could help shed some light on this! Thanks

And how would you do that without a CD ROM or USB Flash Disk?

I don't think what you want to do is possible.

Buy a flash drive. A 8GB flash drive is like $5. Hell, a 128GB flash drive is only $30

Yeah, get an inexpensive USB stick and use the Microsoft tool to flash a factory ISO onto the drive.

i've had good luck using rufus to burn ISOs to thumb drives

I believe it's possible, just not probable. If you don't already have the knowledge to set up a direct drive passthrough and use the MS sysprep tools along with the iso files to set it up as a VM in unraid, acquiring the knowledge or paying someone to figure out the steps needed on unraid isn't going to be nearly as cheap and easy as picking up a flash drive, or used cdrom drive. If the OP was nearby, I have a bin of used untested IDE cd drives he could pick from for $1 each that are destined for the recyclers.

You might be able to do -something-... But it will be an enormous amount of work, no guaranteed result.. Better idea to let someone burn a disk or buy a flashdrive..
