Schedule Parity Check

Featured Replies

Is there a way to Schedule Parity checks by actual day instead of date..

Such as the first Sunday of the month etc... I can only find a way to do it by date such as 01, 02, etc or first day, last day...

The fields for day are not active in both v6.1.7 and 6.1.9

Since I shut my media server down every night except Saturday Night/Sunday Morning because there are some TV shows I record early Sunday Morning the overnight period is wasted time and would be a great time to schedule the parity check then.

If you look at /etc/cron.d/root  you will see the cron entries. The entry for parity check contains the command for parity check. You could disable the one the GUI sets and make your own .cron file and put it in the dynamix plugin folder and set the schedule to whatever is possible with cron.

If I understand what you want to do, you may want to reconsider.    If you start a parity check to run overnight on Sunday, it likely won't be finished before the early Sunday recordings.  One thing you do not want to do is have an active recording during a parity check.    This would cause a significant amount of thrashing of the disks involved in the recording (probably one data disk and the parity disk), which could result in failed recordings and a significant slowing of the parity check.
