April 5, 201610 yr Hi, I am wanting to add 4 port sata card to my unraid. I am worried i will buy a card that isnt compatable so was hoping for some pointers. I dont want to spend alot of money on the card, but i would need it to not effect vt-d. I have thought of the Adaptec 1430SA http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Adaptec-AAR-1430SA-4-x-SATA-II-PCIe-Raid-Controller-Card-/182081603383?hash=item2a64e8c737:g:l1AAAOSwGYVXA65e Would i be okay with this card or could anyone tell me of a better choice. Many thanks
April 6, 201610 yr This card is 100% compatible with UnRaid, I have several in my servers. http://www.amazon.co.uk/Syba-PCI-e-Controller-Profile-Brackets/dp/B00AZ9T3OU/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1459903845&sr=8-1&keywords=iocrest+four+port+sata

April 6, 201610 yr The 1430SA is a bit dated, but is still an excellent choice for a 4-port card. it is, of course, a PCIe x4 card, so be sure you have an available x4 (or larger) slot for it.
April 7, 201610 yr Author Thanks for the advise guys. @Ashman70 i was thinking of using that card you suggest but it has a Marvell 88SE9215 chipset. I have heard that Marvel chipsets can cause an issue with vt-d in unraid v6. Have you found this a problem when passing though hardware to a vm?
April 7, 201610 yr I am using one of those cards in three of my servers, in the one that I have a windows 10 VM, the actual SSD that I have Windows 10 installed on is connected to one of those cards, so no issues for me.
April 7, 201610 yr I have also used that Syba card as well as the version with the 4 ports on the back vs two in back and two on top. Worked fine. I'm now using a 10 port card by Ableconn (PEX10-SAT) and also have zero issues with them. I wasn't real excited about the speed of that 10 port card while doing parity checks then had to wake up and remember I only do them once a month so the speeds of these cards are insignificant.
