Hi,

Yesterday I configured my first unRAID server. The hardware is as follows:

Corsair PowerSupply (PSU) CX 600M 600W

Corsair Vengeance LPX Black 16GB (2x8GB) / 3000MHz / DDR4

Intel Core i7-6700K

MSI GeForce GTX 970 Gaming 4GB

MSI Z170A PC MATE / Z170

Cache pool - > Samsung SSD 850 EVO SSD 500GB

3x WD Red 4TB

I have been running Windows 10 on the machine for a couple of weeks gaming and other things.

It has been working perfect.

So i found out about unRAID and wanted to give it a try. The install and setup has been great!

So I'm trying to run a Windows 10 VM for gaming. I have got Windows working and have been able to run games.

My problem is that randomly the unRAID server restarts, there's no indication saying it's at some special point. It just reboots.

The log seems to reset when unRAID is up and running again. So I'm not shure where to look for errors.

The downside to this besides that unRAID reboots is that the VM has been unable to boot after this happens. So I've had to reinstall it twice.

Is there some way i can figure out why the computer is rebooting?

I had the same that got progressively worse over a year.  Ultimately, replacing the PSU resolved the issue.  One key symptom is that whenever I shutdown the server cleanly, it would turn itself back on immediately.  Another sign was every once in a while after shutting down (randomly or manually), it would only turn back on after moving the power connectors or some arbitrary time had passed.  This became more frequent near the end just before the PSU died.

Hope this helps.

I shure hope that's not the problem, since my PSU is 2 weeks old. :)

The reboots began within a month of building the server and the PSU was new.  I just did not know it because the array was set to auto-start on boot up. After I disabled the auto-start, I really saw how often it rebooted.  The reboots did not happen as much after I put it on a UPS; maybe every few weeks or so but gradually got worse.

I replaced the PSU a few months ago and it's been rock solid.  Even stays off after I shut it down.  :)
