Bjonness406
Hello, I need a PCI controller for only 1 disk for my friend unRAID server. Should be able to do 150MB/s if that is possible on PCI? Needs to be able to support >2TB disks. Would this one work? And use only one of the ports? https://www.komplett.no/product/336525/datautstyr/kontrollere/harddisk/sunswayst-lab-pci-sata-2p-esatasata# If that does not work, or is not recommended, I will need to buy from ebay. saarg
It will most likely not manage 150MB/s as that is max theoretical speed, but not sure which speed to expect. I have no idea about disk sizes though. Isn't there some cheap stuff on Finn? I don't think I have any sata controllers laying around, but I'll check my treasure box Quote Link to comment

Checked finn, these are my options: http://m.finn.no/bap/forsale/ad.html?finnkode=60678779&fks=60678779 http://m.finn.no/bap/forsale/ad.html?finnkode=66309927 http://m.finn.no/bap/forsale/ad.html?finnkode=73146235 Maybe I go with the Tx4 one, since it is listed as supported here. http://lime-technology.com/wiki/index.php/Hardware_Compatibility#PCI_SATA_Controllers Do anyone know if the Promise TX4 support >2TB disks? Do I need to flash it to IT mode for unRAID, or how do I set it up? If I can, I want a plug and play card You from Norway as well? Quote Link to comment
JorgeB
Haven't used PCI for a while, IIRC max real world speed was a little above 100MB/s, max theoretical is 133MB/s. Quote Link to comment

Yes, Norway I forgot to check my treasure box, but I'll do it in the morning. The tx4 card seems to me like a normal sata controller, so it should work without any modifications. I knew johnnie would comment on the speed Quote Link to comment

Thanks, 100MB/s is enough, since I am only going to use it for a single drive It will most likely not manage 150MB/s as that is max theoretical speed, but not sure which speed to expect. I have heard of problems using harddrives bigger than 2TB. In your link it only says that it support more than 137GB. The FastTrak S150TX and Sata150TX controllers have a 48-bit LBA BIOS to support drives larger than 137 GB. Quote Link to comment
Squid
48 bit LBA if properly implemented means that the controller can support up to 1 PB. However it all depends upon the implementation. Since no one else has piped in about compatibility with that particular card, it's probably safe to assume that it will work (although not guaranteed). Quote Link to comment
