im_sn0w
Just registered here, sorry if I am posting in the wrong sub-forum. I am in the process of pricing out a new build which I will be running mostly for plex media server and eventually expanding to other things. I am using unRAID given it's ability to grow with my needs. My question is has anyone tried running on Core i3 6100 with 8GB RAM to any success? Link to the build: http://pcpartpicker.com/p/dxLHVn I haven't listed any HDDs on there because I am still undecided. Leaning towards 2x WD Red 3TB + ~120 GB SSD. General question I guess can be summed up as, will this be a decent build for 1 or 2 (max) clients simply for NAS and Plex purposes. Transcodes will only be 720p. Link to comment
wgstarks
The CPU has a passmark score of 5505. Should be good for 2 clients at 1080 or 3 clients at 720. Link to comment
tdallen
8GB is fine. The 6100 will be fine if your media is 720p or you encode your 1080p media with Handbrake or similar. The 6100 would struggle with 2 streams if your media includes full bit-rate native BD rips, though. Looks like a solid build . Link to comment
HellDiverUK
I ran a Skylake i3-6100T, it ran UnRAID and Plex just fine. Until the shitty Gigabyte board decided to die. Link to comment
