April 10, 201610 yr HI I have same question about ssd cache raid on the new unraid 6.2.0.21 1) question is if i have a 3 ssd 1x 128gb 1x 240gb 1x 512gb and I make a ssd cache raid with that what would the ssd cache size be 2) question is to try to make cents on how the ssd cache work’s on unraid as I have read 3 different explanations.Dose the ssd work like this, if I copy 1tb of files made up of 100 files avg 20gb in size and the ssd cache is only 128gb. Does it copy all file to the ssd and when the ssd cache (is full) does it slow down the file copying to the hdd speed or does it stop the copy tell the ssd cache (is empty) or what happens. 3) question can I install vm on the ssd cache itself as the vm I want to use are for render as they server are running from raid 0 ssd now and want to move them to unraid and use GPU pass-through

For your drives it works out to 368GB usable space. 2) question is to try to make cents on how the ssd cache work’s on unraid as I have read 3 different explanations.Dose the ssd work like this, if I copy 1tb of files made up of 100 files avg 20gb in size and the ssd cache is only 128gb. Does it copy all file to the ssd and when the ssd cache (is full) does it slow down the file copying to the hdd speed or does it stop the copy tell the ssd cache (is empty) or what happens.Files go to the cache until the free space falls below the Min Free Space value set for the share (it should be at least the size of the largest file you want to copy). After that subsequent files are written directly to the data disks by-passing the cache drive. 3) question can I install vm on the ssd cache itself as the vm I want to use are for render as they server are running from raid 0 ssd now and want to move them to unraid and use GPU pass-throughIt is quite normal to run VMS from the cache (this is the default setting). You now need to take the space occupied by VM vdisks into account when calculating space to be used on the cache drive.
