April 13, 201610 yr Saw this old thread about tuning disk settings: http://lime-technology.com/forum/index.php?topic=15224.0 However, there isn't a lot on this topic and wanted to raise the discussion. I've read that Unraid is tuned by default for systems of 512MB of RAM which, to me, is absurdly low amount of RAM in 2016. I have 16GB, which i know isn't the norm, but 512MB is really low. Is anyone really building a new system with that low of a memory footprint? I've experimented with 8x the values, and increased from an average copy speed of 52MB/s to 57MB/s (so 10% increase) but it's adhoc trial and error. I'd like to be more methodical at this. Does anyone have guidance on how best to tune and measure these values? Or do I just leave it along and settle for the defaults?
December 1, 20187 yr This thread will give you some more info/a good idea of an approach to take, but the creator of the script is no longer working on an update because new developments in his life sucked up all his time. Sorry it's not a complete solution.
