Unable to add drive to array

Featured Replies

Hi all,

I'm new to unraid but learning more and more everyday.  I currently have 1 parity, 4 data disks, and one cache drive on my system.  I'm trying to add an additional drive to my array and when I power my server up I see it available as the 5th data disk, I choose it, and when I go to start my array it says I need to clear it.  Click ok and it goes through the clear process completely through 100% and when it's done the 5th device is not there.  When I click the drop down it only shows 2tb sdc and the model number is no longer there.  When I select it the guy reloads and it still isn't selected?

What else can I do to add this drive to my array?

Thanks,

Jon

Which license did you buy or are you using a trial license?

The syslog appears to have lots of errors on device 'sdc'.  Is that an existing drive or one you are trying to add?    A screenshot of the Main tab might help clarify this.

Here is the main screenshot.  And yes sdc is the one i'm trying to add.

If you stop the array, you will be able to add a 5th slot below your 4th drive, you will then be able to add the SDC drive into that slot and start the array, it may say it needs to format it though.

Unfortunately when it does that it just reverts back to being blank.  It doesn't allow me to add it to the array. When I do a power down it allows me to add it to the array, do a clear, and then it fails to stay in the array and reverts back to the screen cap I just posted.

Looks like the disk dropped offline during clearing, it was cleared in 15 minutes (which is impossible) with lots of errors, and there's no SMART report, try power cycling the server, check/replace that disk cables and grab new diagnostics.
