April 17, 201610 yr Searched through the archives (and elsewhere on the interwebs) and not finding a solution. I have a Mac running El Capitan and would like to use APCUPSD to set it up as a slave, however the most current version is not compatible. Also- if this is not the correct forum for this, I apologize. But its not necessarily a plugin issue, and I am running V6... It warns at installation that it may not work, and sure enough it does not complete the install. Has anyone found a work around for this as of yet? Or any type of solution? Any help/advice is appreciated. Thanks! al

April 19, 201610 yr Community Expert Couple of things to ask. Have you tried the software from your UPS manufacturer for your Mac to see if it will work? (I understand that you have to link it via a IP link rather than the USB connection that you would use if the UPS was used on only the Mac.) If your UPS is NOT made by APC, you may to download the Mac version of APC's Powerchute for your OS release and see first if it will even recognize and connect to your UPS.
April 19, 201610 yr APCUPSD is only for APC or APC compatible UPS units. You may need the NUT plugin instead, which supports almost all others.
April 19, 201610 yr Author Little more info.. The Mac will be slaved to my unraid server. UPS is connected directly to unraid via USB. It is a APC UPS and the APCUPSD application runs just fine on my windows VM (and is slaved correctly to the master). And apparently it used to work correctly on Mac's prior to El Capitan. The app that I have been able to find for the Mac is not compatible with El Capitan as of yet. I was I guess wondering if others had found a different version/way of making this work.
May 16, 201610 yr Any chance you were able to get this working on El Capitan? I want to direct connect the UPS to my unRAID server and then have the Mac just talk to the unRAID server and figure out when it needs to shutdown over the network instead of being direct connected. From the thread's that I read, the only issue was with the UPS being connected to the Mac via USB. If it's connected over the network, I'm not sure if there's even an issue. Little more info.. May 16, 201610 yr Author This is what I am trying to do. UPS is connected to my unRAID server and I want to utilize APCUPSD on the Mac to shut down when the unRAID server is running on battery. But there is an issue with the current version of APCUPSD and El Capitan. It will not install. A new version is apparently being worked on, but they are working through some bugs at the current time.
