Best way to Move files after changing split level after share created

Featured Replies

I want to change my split level of a share but it has data on it.

Will changing split level then move existing files?

I found an old post about v5 saying it only affects future writes, but not sure if that's still the case in v6.

If it is correct still that it only affects future writes, what is the current recommended way of executing this so all existing files in a share obey the new split levels?

No changing the split level will not move existing files but will only affect new files being written to the array

If you want to change the existing data so that it matches these split levels then you are going to have to do some manual moving of files. I'm not sure if anyone has written a plugin to make this easier, but the unbalance plugin might do this?
