Out of curiosity and since the LSI card I mentioned is not readily available for me to order from online retails I've looked at.

 

Are there any other cards out there that will do the exact same thing as the LSI card that anyone could suggest please? Maybe another LSI model or another manufacturer?

Or you could get a couple of the 2008 clones, Dell, IBM etc on ebay. Flash them to IT and you have 16 ports for $100 tops.

Definitely the way to go if you can. Buying a LSI 9201-16i controller really only makes sense if you're limited on pcie slots, or if you plan on saving those slots for other cards.

 

Anyway this thread should probably ought to be moved to the storage/controllers subforum.
