April 20, 201610 yr Full time n00b when it comes to Unraid, this'll be my first time experimenting with the product and just want to ask around to see if what I'm trying to achieve is at all possible. I have an install at the moment (10 Pro) on my main rig, and am looking to install unraid and run two machines from there. Is it at all possible to virtualise my current OS/restore a VHD from a backup onto the unraid configured drive? Another question is: can I attach my NTFS configured data drives on, or will these need to be reformatted? (Admittedly I haven't googled this now I think about it) Thanks for the help

Maybe you can mount them outside the array with the Unassigned Devices plugin, but I would not recommend that, since you loose parity.

(Admittedly I haven't googled this now I think about it) Thanks for the help There is a guide in the wiki to convert physical PC to VM which might be useful to you: http://lime-technology.com/wiki/index.php/UnRAID_6/VM_Management#Physical_to_Virtual_Machine_Conversion You can attach NTFS drive but only by using Unassigned Devices plugin (will be mounted as a network drive) or full controller pass-through. Cannot add it to the array. What I have found is formatting a drive as xfs and attaching using Unassigned Devices means it can be written to via windows easily so I'm considering only using NTFS for the OS vdisk.
