April 22, 201610 yr Skylake does some things well, others not so well. If you need an upgrade anyway then you should evaluate Skylake. Is it so awesome that you need to upgrade ASAP, regardless of what you have now? No, I don't think so. It's an incremental improvement and in some cases Haswell is still the better buy.
April 27, 201610 yr Author Depends on? I am looking at the g4400 pentium. Is there a skylake itx mother board with 8 x sata ports?
April 27, 201610 yr Er...... For basic unraid server. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Then no Upgrade should be a "need" and not a "want".
April 27, 201610 yr Well, I hope you wants it a lot because I don't see any real reason to upgrade from a G2030 to a G4400 .
April 27, 201610 yr Author I just want to reduce power consumption, go from matx to itx and use a smaller case. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
April 27, 201610 yr How much power are you using at idle now? That motherboard probably isn't too efficient, but the rest of the setup looks nice.
April 28, 201610 yr Hmm, you could probably shave a few watts off that. The ASRock Rack C236 Skylake boards have 8 SATA ports, for instance http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813599009.
