mass storage IP based networked storage across multiple machines?

Hey,

 

I'm new to unRAID, looks like an amazing product. I was wonder if mass storage IP based networked storage across multiple servers is possible to create one big pool or a couple of big pools?

 

So for example if I have one chasis that can fit 6 drives and I want a bigger single storage pool, can I connect it via IP somehow to ADD to the storage pool?

    This seems like it would be a pretty hard problem, so I'd be interested to know if any NAS solutions allow this currently?
