VM Networking Question - Want to use a different network

Featured Replies

Hi,

I have two different networks in my home and I want to be able to use one on my unraid box, and the other on my VM.  I have two network cards installed in the unraid box and each cable hooked up to it.  From my understanding the default NIC used will be the onboard one unless I disable it in the bios.  Correct me if I'm wrong as I don't want the unraid box hopping on the wrong network.

When I set up the ubuntu VM it's not giving me the option of choosing an ethernet connection and has defaulted to the one unraid is also using.  I'm trying to figure out if it's possible to make this work or not?  I found the article here - https://lime-technology.com/forum/index.php?topic=39638.0 - about passing through NIC's and I think that might be what I need to do but I wanted to make sure.  If I am following that article as well can someone clarify one thing for me on step 6, the product ID that I'm using is for the one I want to use with the VM correct?

Thanks in advance.
