Flash device error (back on ESXi after few years) [SOLVED]

Featured Replies

I'm migrating my server back to ESXi (it's been about 1.5-2 years since I was on it).

1.  Formatted 1GB vmdk to FAT32 with the name UNRAID

2.  Copied contents from UnRAID flash drive to vmdk and made bootable

3.  Attached both USB and vmdk to UnRAID VM

System boots fine and I have access to the WebGui but I'm getting a "flash device error" as if it can't reach the GUID and thus I can't start my array.  It's been a while since I've used UnRAID on ESXi but I remember the process being very straight forward when I was using it.  Maybe I'm forgetting something.

Anyone?

EDIT:  I see now that UnRAID is reading the vmdk as the flash device someone how and the flash device is listed as an unassigned device.  Never had that happen in the past.  I must have missed something...

EDIT #2: Ahhh I found the step I missed.  I forgot to change the name of the vmdk in Windows from UNRAID to BOOT before I re-attached it to the UnRAID VM.  All good now.
