Port Forward to a VM

Featured Replies

Hi

I have just setup a VM running Ubuntu Server with the goal of hosting a Garys Mod server on it. The only trouble is i have no idea how to forward the correct ports to the VM. I need the ports forwarded for the game server and ssh would be useful. Is this possible. Is there a better way of doing it. Is a docker container a better idea?

Thanks

You only have to forward the port from your Router to the IP from your VM.

Thats the only thing. Its like a real computer in your network.

That's assuming the VM setup tutorial was followed and the public bridge is being used instead of the internal bridge.

Well the bridge is setup virbr0. The only other thing i can change is the MAC address

Ah i think i have worked it out. I need to setup a public bridge in the network settings. I will try set it up and post back here.

Yup sorted. I just stopped the array. Setup a bridge in the network setting. Restarted the array and then set the bridge as the network interface for the VM. Cheers for the nudge in the correct direction.

I have done this but I am still having this problem with my VMS. When I port forward the ips from my VM and attempt to connect to a server, it always fails and an open port checker says the port is closed, but on a real machine the process works fine. Any ideas on how to fix this?
