Good day!

So I'm new to unraid 6 and learning as I go.  I built a VM using the newest release of ubuntu server to host a game server.  I would like to be able to telnet into the server for various reasons but I honestly am not having any luck figuring out how to do this.  When I use putty and connect to my server's IP I get to the terminal screen for Unraid which is what I was expecting.  How can I connect to the Ubuntu server?  When setting up the VM I chose Bridge mode for ethernet which was recommended in the VM documentation.  Or at least it was the way I read it.  I could have been mistaken there.  Host mode would have given it it's own IP that I could have used.  Not sure if that is the way I should be doing it or not.  At any rate your help and input would be much appreciated.

That sounds like you are having the same issue I have with an ubuntu 16 server, https://lime-technology.com/forum/index.php?topic=48722.0. As I wrote, it works as expected with ubuntu 14, so I think there is something special about ubuntu 16 that works differently, but I'm not an expert on those matters

I actually got this working after quite a bit of trail and error and google.  I turned off my VM and got it's MAC address from the info.  I then got into my router and found it and assigned it a static IP.  I then installed Open SSH server on my Ubuntu server.  Thanks for the response Pengman I appreciate it.  I'm running Ubuntu 16.04 LTS and unraid 6.1.9
