Parity device is disabled

Featured Replies

Woke up this morning and happened to notice a red X by my parity drive with the message on hover saying  Parity device disabled. I checked SMART and it looks fine so i assume my next step is to do the standard:

- Stop Array

- Remove Disk

- Start Array

- Stop Array

- Add Same Disk

- Rebuild Parity?

I have attached a syslog and diagnostics first though to make sure i dont mess something up.

storage-diagnostics-20160501-0811.zip

That is correct procedure.  Just a note for future reference, you grabbed your diagnostics after you restarted the server, which means that there is no record of why the drive actually failed a write to it.

Another note for future reference. There is no need to post both a syslog AND diagnostics. Diagnostics includes syslog.

As you said, SMART for parity looks OK. You might check connections before trying to rebuild it though.
