Dynamic Link USB to a certain /dev/ port

Featured Replies

Hey All.

I have a few dockers/VMss that require access to the same USB hardware. If I unplug the device (for part of it's functionality), when I plug it in again it's at a different port. This also seems to happen when switching dockers, but I haven't confirmed that yet.

So what I'd like to do is have unraid find the device and link it too /dev/myUSB or something like that, so even if it updates the containers/VMs will still be pointing at the correct hardware.

Possible in UnRaid? This is usually done with udev, but I don't think it's possible that way.

Thanks

Christian

Yes its possible through custom udev rules, similar to the recent posts about getting consistent ETH Network names.
