It is not a bug in Unraid or Tips and Tweaks. It's how the driver works. The CPU frequencies will not be controlled the same way by each driver. You can't compare operation between them. The amd-pstate-epp driver is supposed to be a very efficient driver for AMD CPUs. There are two governors that favor either performance or power savings."Balanced Performance" - Set all CPUs frequency scaling to balanced_performance. Prioritizes higher performance while still considering power efficiency. Good for general use with a performance bias."Balanced Power" - Set all CPUs frequency scaling to balanced_power. Prioritizes energy efficiency with sufficient performance for most typical workloads. Ideal for minimizing power usage.I would suggest using these governors and not be concerned with the "AMD Performance Boost". It takes care of itself. Edited December 18, 2025Dec 18 by dlandon

What existed before suddenly did not, but now that I know it's tied to the driver's features and the driver was updated it makes a lot more sense. I just wish it was more clear in the UI. The drop down was an empty drop down with no options, but still clickable, instead of having the disabled attribute. I didn't see a note as to why there were no options either. I had options in 7.0.1 and suddenly in 7.2.2 I had none, but no explanation why this was that way in the plugins page. Hence all the confusion surrounding this.4 hours ago, dlandon said:I would suggest using these governors and not be concerned with the "AMD Performance Boost". It takes care of itself. In the end I guess I was less concerned about that feature and more concerned with the driver without realizing it. The empty drop down drew the biggest concern from me I guess. I went from the server basically being background noise and CPU temps of about 110 F / 43 C to about 175 F / 80 C and the computer being annoyingly audible on top of the wild frequency changes shown before. The server is about 6 ft / 2 m away from my personal computer and my bed so having it run cooler and quieter like 7.0.1 is absolutely vital to me. My setup wasn't always in this location, but it is now and so things gotta be what they gotta be. I guess I could also have just downclocked it in the UEFI / BIOS, but the tool you created has been fantastically handy. For now I've switched to the old driver like JorgeB suggested and it works, but if I find some time this weekend now that you've helped me understand what's going on better I may try the other settings to see if I can get something usable for my situation or similar to what I have now.Thank you both very much for your time and help! Happy holidays!

I agree the UI should say something about this or give some indicaton it can't be controlled. I was working on implementing this driver just as the plugin was transitioned to Lime Tech. There were some things I wasn't able to complete. Hopefully Lime Tech can make some changes to help with this situation.
January 28Jan 28 Hello,The plugin does not currently allow ring buffers to be set to 8192.This PR has been opened on the plugin repo: https://github.com/unraid/tips.and.tweaks/pull/1Would it be possible for someone to review it?Many thanks.
May 15May 15 Just FYI, since upgrading to Unraid 7.3.0, I've noticed a ~20w drop in power consumption. I believe it's due to improvements to the amd-pstate driver in the newer Kernel.(see my post at: https://forums.unraid.net/topic/198745-unraid-730-stable-now-available/page/3/#findComment-1623014 )Tips & Tweaks currently has my server set using "Normal" governor as "Balanced Performance" in the drop-down, while the info column to the right reports it as "CPU Frequency Scaling - Driver: AMD Pstate EPP - Governor: Power Save".In the Unraid "Power Mode" setttings, I have it set to "Best Power Efficiency"I'm probably going to change the "Normal CPU Scalig Governor" setting in Tips & Tweaks to "Balanced Power" to see if it does anything meaningful. But may I ask:What's the relationship between the options in Tips & Tweaks and the Unraid Power Save setting? Does one cancel out the other (specifically for my AMD EPYC CPU - see sig)? Many thanks.
