May 22, 201610 yr Hi all, Just thought I would report back on my Unraid 6 build and how it was running. I merged two computers into one while I was upgrading to Unraid 6, Moved my Unraid from Unraid 5 rc11 (I think) and I also had a Windows Server 2008r2 box running two VM's next to it, the VM's were running Plex, Sonarr, Sabnzbd and Deluge, I also had a VM that I can remote into for my Chromebook for times I need Office or Visual Studio while I am away from home. So in the build I added a Dell H310 flashed to IT mode and connected all my drives to that except my new cache disk (SSD) and the parity (4TB WD red). I made one VM in KVM running Windows 7 to make Plex easier to move but I moved the rest to Dockers. I had a problem once I had put it all together in that the drives would regularly go missing or the web gui would stop leaving me with just my SSH shell working until I tried to CD into a directory on the array. This only occurred once I had put the machine all together and moved into place, this didn't click with me though for a week and I finally worked out that while I was building it and rebuilding parity I had had the side off the case with a house fan blowing in to keep the drives cool while all 8 drives were being read. The fix for the locking up which was mainly happening after it had checked parity and recovered from the last crash was to simply add a CPU fan to the Dell H310 card. Since then it has an up time of just over 10 days which is 10 days longer than I could manage without it. The case has three 140mm fans, two blowing into the front over the drives (they run at about 30 degrees) one at the back exhausting out and also the PSU fan exhausting out and they were not enough to keep this card cool.
