openelec nvidia gt520 freezes whole system.

The Problem; When selecting NVIDIA GT520 as my GPU Option

 

Starting openelecVM shows OPENELEC splash and shows version at the top. _ blinks for a few seconds then stops. at this point the entire machine locks up, all VMs stop, web interface stops, ssh stops, the primary monitor login: _ continues to blink but will no longer accept keyboard input.

I have tried booting via openelec template, and Custom VM following this guide https://lime-technology.com/forum/index.php?topic=44683.0

UPDATE:

I have gotten windows server to output display to the GT520 however the device is coming up as Microsoft Display Adapter.

the GT520 audio/video are the only devices in its group(3)
