What happens if mover starts to run while file still being written to cache?

Featured Replies

What happens if the mover starts when files are still being written to the cache drive?  For example, imagine I have a large set of file copies happening (2 files, 1GB each).

Suppose file1 is done copying and file2 is mid-progress, and the mover job starts.  What happens?  Will file1 correctly be copied and file2 skipped?

rsync skips open files.  So part will be in the array and part on the cache drive until the next time the mover runs.  Happens to me all the time when moving stuff off of cache and plex accesses it for playback etc.

My mover is scheduled to run once a hour

Huh, good to know. So I didn't have to go through all that trouble to make sure everything was paused or stopped so nothing touched the cache drive when the mover ran every night.
