June 4, 201610 yr Hi all, I just got an SC836 case with a X10SL7-F connected to the backplane with 2 breakout cables. It has a redundant power supply which is also connected to the backplane.. My question is, how do I connect the SSD and where do I put it? I don't think it would go in one of the hot swap bays and if it did how do I make just 1 hot swap bay connect to the onboard ports instead of the built in LSI 2308?
June 4, 201610 yr Not familiar with your case in particular but this is the method I used to mount an SSD securely without taking up a precious HDD slot. I used a 3.5" SSD adapter (see pic for example), mounted SSD to adapter and then mounted the adapter vertically against the back of the case using case screws through the adapter and into 2 of the "air holes" on the back surface of the case.
June 4, 201610 yr There are some PCI slot hotswap 2.5 HDD bay devices, one of those might work for you if you don't plan to use all your slots.
June 4, 201610 yr If your hot swap bays use drawers then check them because some have the screws for a SSD. Mine didn't so I drilled the required holes and it works good.
