Windows MySQL to unRaid MariaDB, DB Migration

Featured Replies

Hi,

Currently I have Kodi DB on Windows installation of MySQL, and I want to migrate it to a MariaDB docker.

Is there a way to do that without re-scraping my media?

The web has solutions for MySQL to MariaDB same machine upgrades, or MySQL to MySQL DB transfers.

Also some solutions may involve a docker command line which I don't know how to get.

Thanks.

Easiest solution is to export your library within kodi as separate files, then switch advanced settings to point to the docker, then rescan your library  (also set the option within advanced settings to pick up the watched status)

Thanks. I know that (watched status flag too), but I'm trying to avoid re-scanning my media (a second time).

I am (still) copying data to unraid, than take the hard disks from the old server to unraid, preclear and add them to the array,

and only then I have free space for more media copy, so in order to keep Kodi down time to minimum (peace of mind from other members in my family  ;D),

I already export the db, copy my media folders to unraid, one folder at a time, and re-scan to mysql,

so basically the db already points to the media folders on unraid,

and I thought I could migrate somehow the db as a whole to MariaDB.

k.  You originally said re-scraping rather than rescanning (which is night and day faster than rescraping)

There's a BackupSQL docker -> never used it so have no idea about it.

You can probably also do a backup/restore within MySql Workbench on Windows - Backup from MySQL on windows then create a new connection to MariaDB and restore.  But no experience with this also.
