December 26, 200916 yr Hi ! I have just upgrade my server with a extra SATA card (1430SA) and a 2 "old" disk and a brand new WD 1.5TB. Can some experienced user look in my log files and see if I need to take some action on some issue ? or I just can relax that I don't have any issues //Peter
December 31, 200916 yr The syslog and SMART reports all look OK, but it's a little hard to be completely sure when they include numerous sleep/wake cycles. Waking up seems to be especially messy, with lots of half-starts and exceptions. It is probably like waking a deep sleeper, they aren't at their best, and may take multiple attempts before all 'components' are fully awake. Before others ask for a similar check of their systems, I would like to gently remind users that thoroughly analyzing syslogs takes a lot of time, at minimum a half hour, and easily a half day or more, and we are completely unpaid volunteers. If you don't know that there is anything wrong, please be considerate. I do love helping others, but syslogs are so data intensive and voluminous that it can be an easy way to burn out, particularly if there does not seem to be anything seriously wrong to justify the time.
