DELL SAS6iR crossflash to LSI3081E

Featured Replies

Posting this, to have it conserved.

This controller doesn't support drives bigger than 2.2TB.

It is also not identical to the PERC 6i that can't be crossflashed.

Actually, the LSI SAS1068E B3 chipset ( LSI3081E uses this chip ) supports devices larger than 2.2TB, but only if they are SAS drives. If they are SATA drives, yes, it is limited to 2.2TB (the controller can "see" the drive, but can address/utilise/use only 2.2TB of it). Tested with the last P21 IT Mode firmware and several 4, 6 and even 14TB SAS drives. Have not tested it with B2 or B1 versions of the chipset, but the B3 is working OK (crossflashed several DELL PERC 6IR and Gigabyte GC-RLE086-RH).
