[SOLVED] COMRESET failed (errno=-16) Received

Featured Replies

I just installed a recently purchased 6tb wd red hard drive. During boot I receive this message several times:

COMRESET failed (errno=-16)

It eventually boots into unraid with one of the 2 cases:

1. Drive does not appear anywhere on the GUI

2. Sometimes appears in the area where it shows drives not in array.

I believe it is a bad drive, but I just wanted to verify, because a google search leans towards a bios issues.

This is what I have done so far:

1. Updated to the latest bios. (I have a  Supermicro X10SL7-F uATX)

2. Tried to boot the array with the drive in 3 different slots (to verify not a cable issue.)  I have 12 slots.

3. Rebooted the array with a know good drive in the same slot that I received this error and received no errors.

The strange things that this is the 3rd drive of this exact type (I mean same size and model, something else may be different.)

Request feedback if I can do anymore troubleshooting or if it is most probably a bad drive unit.

Thanks!

Please see Need help? Read me first!, and attach the diagnostics zip.  Make sure it has the COMRESET messages.

Issue was a bad drive. It confused me because the symptom were consistent with a BIOS issue when I google searched. I ordered a replacement drive and no issues.
