Adding Cache 2 Too many wrong and/or missing disks!

Featured Replies

Hi

What should I try to get the array back up and running with new SSD (Cache 2)?

I have cleanly shutdown system multiple times and still have the same issue.

Thank you

Assuming you removed the array disks you have to do a new config.

Tools > New Config

Also, you need at least one disk assigned to the array as a data device, or you won't be able to start unRAID.

Thanks for your fast response, but I found this is more a problem with motherboard then unRAID software.

I am having a problem when I try and install a second SSD into the motherboard connector - M2D_32G.

I am running a CACHE through connector M2H_32G on a Samsung SM951 M2 NVMe MZVPV256HDG M.2 SSD. However when I install a second identical SSD in the M2D_32G the SATA 0/1/2/3 connectors (and their HHDs) are no longer seen in BIOS.

I have no idea how do I get the BIOS to show the HHDs?

Skylake chipsets share HSIO lanes between m.2 slots and other devices, like SATA ports, sometimes enabling one will disable the other(s), check your MB manual.

I think that I found in MB manual. This mean I wasted money on buying second M.2 SSD?

You can use the remaining 2 chipset SATA ports together with the Asmedia controller for 4 HDDs,  any more you need a HBA, if you want to keep using both m.2 SSDs.

Say if I had used PCIe 3.0 x4 Host Adapter for M.2 NGFF PCIe SSD Adaptor Card (Lycom DT-120 M.2 SSD to PCI-E Adapter Card), Because I do not use any Graphics Card would solve the problem, and enabled SATA 0/1/2/3 connectors. And if unRAID will support the card ?

Thank you for your help

It *should* work, the adapter should be transparent to unRAID, check manual but you probably have to use the top slots, as the bottom slot can also be shared.
