June 12, 201610 yr I recently added a new ssd and a parity drive to my system. Weird thing is, unlike all the other drives I can see their capacities and activity in my dashboard or main page. Anyone know whats going on? Best regards Sean
June 12, 201610 yr Community Expert Parity has no file system, so no free space, cache2 is part of a pool, only info for the first pool disk is shown, representing the hole pool, it's normal.
June 12, 201610 yr Author thanks for the reply. However, if it was representing the whole pool, shouldn't it be showing more than 94 gb of space with one 120GB ssd and one 60GB ssd?
June 12, 201610 yr Community Expert Just for interest, which is the drive you added to the cache? If you expected it to add extra space, then this would not be the case in the default configuration of raid-1. In fact if the new one was the 60GB drive you may have reduced the available space as with 2 drives of mismatched sizes the available space is effectively that of the smaller drive.
June 12, 201610 yr Author I added the 60 GB one. It was more of a "because I can" decision. Now I get that why the space wouldnt show. What about the disk activity though?
June 12, 201610 yr Community Expert Disk activity is shown by the read/write counters. Space is incorrectly reported when using different sized devices, this is a BTRFS limitation, with your current pool config you'll only be able to use 60GB.
