YouTube Really Slow

Featured Replies

Hi,

I am currently experiencing really bad slow and stuttering with YouTube and other movie streaming services on my Windows 10 VM on Unraid 6.1.9.

When I'm not doing anything too strenuous the box idles at about 50% CPU and 66% Memory.  With the Windows 10 VM running and 6 dockers.  When the video does stutter I check the task manager in Windows and both RAM and CPU aren't maxed.

I'm running an i5-4460 @ 3.2Ghz with 0,1 assigned to the VM and 2,3 to Unraid.  I have 16Gb of RAM split 8Gb to the Windows VM and 8Gb to Unraid.

I hope somebody can help, thanks in advance.

Swap your cores allocation around and see if that helps.  Seem to remember core 0 particularly has priority for host.

I've been having a similar issue with Youtube and also with playback via Plex on my Win 10 VM. It runs ok for a little while and then all of a sudden starts going in slow motion and stuttering.

I've added the "emulatorpin" option to my XML to pin the emulation to 2 cores outside the VM allocation and so far, touch wood, it seems to have done the trick. If it hasn't I'll update :)

My CPU Tune section...

<cputune>
    <vcpupin vcpu='0' cpuset='4'/>
    <vcpupin vcpu='1' cpuset='5'/>
    <vcpupin vcpu='2' cpuset='6'/>
    <vcpupin vcpu='3' cpuset='7'/>
    <vcpupin vcpu='4' cpuset='20'/>
    <vcpupin vcpu='5' cpuset='21'/>
    <vcpupin vcpu='6' cpuset='22'/>
    <vcpupin vcpu='7' cpuset='23'/>
    <emulatorpin cpuset='3,19'/>
  </cputune>

Obviously, if you edit your VM you will have to paste the line back in to your XML again.
