Okay, so I found the P16 firmware and instructions for my board.  But...when it gets here, I'm going to try it first, as is, and check the system logs to see how/if a drive connected through the mini-sas connection is recognized.  If it is detected, and recognized, then I think ill leave the LSI alone.
