June 14, 201610 yr When I setup my unRAID server (~50 days ago)... It did a parity check, and all is valid. When I go into my "Main" tab it says the "Parity is valid" with a message stating that Parity was last checked 50 days ago. There is a button to "Check" the partiy, which starts the parity check process. My questions are... 1. Is running a manual parity check, something that I should do? 2. Does unRAID periodically do this for me? So that I don't need to bother with it. 3. What's the impact of accessing the unRAID storage when it is in the process of doing a parity check. (ie, can I read/write the storage when parity check is in process) Thanks, Sean.
June 14, 201610 yr Community Expert A lot of people schedule monthly parity checks. Settings - Scheduler. You can read / write during parity check but it will impact the speed of both the reading/writing and the parity check so you might not want to start a large copy.
