Editing config/network.cfg to Use a Static IP

Featured Replies

Since my network consists of a switch and some patch cables, I am lacking a DHCP server, and therefore I believe I need to use a static IP address. But exactly what do I enter for these different fields? Is the IP address I assign completely arbitrary?

# Generated network settings

USE_DHCP=yes

IPADDR=

NETMASK=

GATEWAY=

check the settings of your windows machine by typing ipconfig at the command line.  Just change the last number of its IP address to something you haven't used already.  Make sure you match the mask.  If you have a router you will need to enter its IP as the gateway

ifconfig shows you the same from linux or osx.
