Jessie
I'm considering building a machine which will run sbs 2011 on hardware similar to the Limetech appliance. The operating system would be loaded onto a couple of 500gb cache drives and an additional 1tb re4 drive would be available as part of the array for general data storage. Other drives in the array would be utilized for system backups. A radeon card to provide pass through for the user interface. If I went this way would that provide immunity from motherboard replacement compatibility in the event of a failure? Would this idea work at all? I am currently exploring replacement options for sbs 2011 which has been discontinued. One possibility is Zential server which is Linux based. Would this run on the unraid server when the time comes? Thoughts??? Quote Link to comment
ashman70
I have several SBS 2011 servers running virtualized on VMware Esxi so I see no reason why you couldn't virtualize it and run it on UnRaid, it is after all, only Windows Server 2008R2 with Exchange and Sharepoint. 1 Quote Link to comment
