4.5 - Several problems with full Slackware

Featured Replies

Hello,

I've updated my unRAID 4.5 Beta Slackware installation to the latest unRaid 4.5 using Slackware 13.0 and have several problems with my array.

- When I try to halt the array the process hangs while unmounting my drives. In /var/log/messages there is a loop of

Dec 28 08:58:55 erebos emhttp: shcmd (355): umount /mnt/user >/dev/null 2>&1
Dec 28 08:58:55 erebos emhttp: shcmd (356): rmdir /mnt/user >/dev/null 2>&1
Dec 28 08:58:55 erebos emhttp: Retry unmounting user share(s)...

The array does not halt correctly so a resync will run after the next reboot.

- User Shares does not work.

I have created a User Share, in /mnt/user the directory is present but there is nothing in it.

At boottime there is a output "Fuse filesystem already available. Mounting fuse control filesytem."

To get fuse fileystem to run i'v copied libfuse from the unRAID USB System.

lsmod output:

root@erebos:/# lsmod
Module                  Size  Used by
md_mod                 43980  16
xor                    13884  1 md_mod
forcedeth              49264  0
root@erebos:/#

In /boot/config/shares there are several other config files for User Shares from my old config which are not recognized.

What can I try to make my unRaid run correct again?

Thank you for your help!

Bruno

*edit*

I also have a lot of Exit Status 1 of shcmd in my syslog file

syslog:Jan  1 14:19:35 erebos emhttp: _shcmd: shcmd (77): exit status: 1

syslog:Jan  1 14:19:35 erebos emhttp: _shcmd: shcmd (77): exit status: 1

That's quite odd, as my Slackware-Current (13.0 with all updates) with unRaid 4.5 Final is working fine, including user shares. However, I have tuned which services run, and updated SAMBA too.

Perhaps one of the default services is keeping your disks busy so the array can not stop properly? What does "lsof" on your array disks show?

apparently, it is unable to un-mount the user share file system, probably because a file on it is in use, or a directory on it is the "current" directory of a process you started while "cd'd to it.   In fact, if you are logged in and "cd'd to it, it is your login shell that has the disk as its current directory, so it cannot be un-mounted.

Once the user-share file system is un-mounted, unRAID then removes the directory for the mount-point at /mnt/user.   Since the un-mount is probably failing, the remove of the directory will also fail, and the array cannot be stopped.

Fix the reason the un-mount is failing, and odds are you'll find that stopping the array works.

Try

lsof /mnt/user

and you'll probably see the process and/or files keeping it busy.

It might even be the "shfs" process keeping the mount point busy.

/mnt/user is not in use, Samba and NFS is stoped, working directory is /

The User Share is not working correct. The directory is always empty and not mapped to the md's

I think when I'm able to run the User Shares correct I'll have solved my problem.

I've installed my systems using this manual http://lime-technology.com/wiki/index.php?title=Installing_unRAID_on_a_full_Slackware_distro

According to the manual I've replaced /etc/rc.d/rc.fuse and /bin/fusermount.

rc.fuse is equal to the version shipped with slackware 13.0, fusermount is different (v2.7.4 and v2.8.1).

I've copied libfuse.so.2.8.1 and the links into my /lib directory, ldd shfs is ok.

Do I need any other lib files?

Did you solve this problem?

Im on a full slackware 13 install, and what its doing it putting my /mnt/user on the / directory instead of disk1! So if you copy anything to a share in user, its installing it on my slackware boot drive rather than the unraid disk. If it copy to disk1 then everyting is fine but the user shares dont see the unraid at all.

Anyone have any idea on this? Same thing fuse says its running etc.
