Noon question about adding a new drive

I know the correct way to add a drive, power down, add drive, boot up, assign, allow preclear and format, bring array online.....

 

Is there a way to add a new drive without the array being offline for hours??

Use the preclear plugin.  But I think I read somewhere about 6.2+ no longer taking the array down during the clearing process if you didn't use the preclear plugin
