January 1, 201016 yr My unRAID box has a collection of 8 Western Digital 1TB and 1.5TB Green Drives (all SATA). Even the parity drive is a green drive, so I'm not expecting it to be super fast. Under unRAID 4.4 I was getting about 8MB/sec write speeds, under unRAID 4.5 I'm now getting 25MB/s, so there's a very nice performance improvement to be had from this upgrade! Well done Lime! Stephen
January 8, 201016 yr Thanks, good to know. Is that copying to a user share or a disk share? Gigabit LAN? Cache drive? A bit more information would make your report more useful.
January 8, 201016 yr One is limited to around 12 MB/s on 100 mbit networks, so it's likely gigabit network. Writes to a cache disk should be higher than 25 MB/s, so I'm guessing its to a parity protected drive, but not sure on disk or user share.
January 9, 201016 yr Author Thanks, good to know. Is that copying to a user share or a disk share? Gigabit LAN? Cache drive? A bit more information would make your report more useful. I was copying to a user share. Over a gigabit LAN (Marvell Yukon NIC on WinXP client, through a netgear 8 port gigabit switch to an Intel NIC 82566DM on the unRAID - Intel DQ965GF motherboard, using cat 5e cables). No cache drive. This was observed with about 50GB of data transfer, so there shouldn't be any RAM cache effect. Regards, Stephen
