June 28, 201610 yr I have been reading https://lime-technology.com/forum/index.php?topic=49051.0 but I am either missing A LOT of information or I just can not quite comprehend everything there, I am 17. Specs: Asus X99-A, Geforce 980ti, Cheapo Card, i7-5820K, and 16gb (4x4) DDR4 Quad-Channel, 3 3tb Seagates, 1 1tb WD Black, and 1 500gb 850 evo. When I am playing my game, WoW, I am only getting between 10-30 fps, I read in the post that anything more than 4 cores will begin to worsen performance. So when I backed it down to 4 cores (511 & 410) my fps came up from the 15- range. I have absolutely no idea what to do to fix this. I have tried isolating my phsyical cores (in the syslinux config on the flash drive) and assigning them to the VM (only to see the same result, no improvement). I guess what I am looking for is if any of you have Gaming VMs what are the magical things I need to do for optimal performance? Before I came to UnRaid, my 980ti never (only in odd situations, but I mean never) left 60 fps in WoW (I had it capped). Now if I open MSI Afterburner the GPU usuage hovers in the 90 to 100, but the power draw never leaves 36-38% (Will not leave that range, even when I literally have 5 FPS) and before UnRaid while playing Black Ops III, I would see it hit as high at 86%. Any advice is greatly appreciated, I really do not want to redo my system again to run on lowly Windows, haha. (Another Note: I have been seeing insanely slow internet connections on my VM(seems to only be for the first few minutes), I know it is not the internet itself as everything else is just fine. Could this be related to my system just out right stopped last evening? It was running, but UnRaid just flat out stopped responding)
June 28, 201610 yr Author After assigning only Physical and no logical cores, my FPS has doubled, not quite where it should be but I guess I will do more digging and learn what is going on. The internet connection is rather iffy, I either have a stupid ping then DC or a good ping and DC from my game, I have no clue what it is doing because it is doing it differently every time.
June 28, 201610 yr Author Another Update: Found what I believe to be the issue, my VPN. But my FPS actually did not change, the settings magically changed on me.
