How To Set Up Cache Pool 6.2b23

Featured Replies

I am running 6.2b23 with 1 cache drive, running Dockers and Plugins

I now want to remove my existing cache drive, and then install 2 drives (both the same size) to form a cache pool

What is the correct proceedure under 6.2b23? I done some searching but can only find reference to earlier versions.

Can I stop using the cache drive under share settings, stop the array, delete the cache drive and then start the array again? Therefore powerdown the array, reboot and then assign the two new disks as a cache pool and then start the array. I realise that I may have to reinstall dockers / plugins

The way I did it was I disabled both the Docker and VM in settings

Stopped the array and unassigned the cache drive, set the data drives to one less, set the cache drives to 2.

Shutdown the server and installed the 2 new drives

Restart, will have to shutdown array again - assign your 2 drives to a cache pool and start array - format/build the pool.

Then I used UD plugin to mount the old cache drive to a temp location

then used MC to copy from the temp mounted drive to /mnt/cache

once finished re-enable docker and vm subsystems, it should come back up just like before but now using the cache pool.

One verified, you can do what ever you need with the old cache drive, I kept mine in UD as a extra drive when I need to move/copy something
