[Support] Linuxserver.io - Nextcloud

Hoping someone can help, I am not finding anything through search on this thread or google.

I had a large sync running overnight and I woke up to errors stating that the connection was lost. Was getting 404 error when trying to access the web UI. I restarted mariaDB and nextcloud dockers and I can get back to the web UI now, but it only gives me the initial setup screen where it asks ytou to enter an admin user and fill out db info.

I tried filling in the admin and db info that I used previously, but it says the user already exists....

Any help is appreciated :-), thank you!

Got any logs?  But it sounds like Nextcloud config has been overwritten, done any upgrades or anything recently?

It's a new install with nothing special (that I know of), I upgraded to 10.0.2 prior to starting the large 108 GB sync.

reinstalling mariadb did the trick!

I still had to go through the admin setup screen, but it did not tell me my user already existed.

Looks like my files are still intact too.

Yeah, should have mentioned that, setting up from scratch, as long as you leave /data untouched of course, means your data is preserved.  Also means you can copy direct to the /data folder using whatever method you like, restart the nextcloud container and your files will be there, negating the need to do everything through the Nextcloud webui/app....

Wow, this happened again. This must be related the unraid mover?

I changed the nextcloud /config from my cache/appdata path to the user/appdata path, restarted the container and at least this time did not have to go through the admin setup process again.

Sounds like your appdta is being moved to the array instead of being kept on the cache drive.

Once all is confirmed as working

##Open terminal in container
docker exec -it nextcloud bash

##remove  backup folder
cd /config/www/
rm -rf nextcloud-backup

##Remove Nextcloud tar file
rm nextcloud-11.0.0.tar.bz2

Great guides CHBMB much appreciated. However I had to stop at the "Once all is confirmed as working" step :-)

I just upgraded and having difficulties to activate calendar and contacts:

No matter what I try - can't get these 2 important apps activated. In fact I can't activate any app :-o

According to this link: https://help.nextcloud.com/t/how-to-install-activate-apps-like-mail-contacts-and-calendar/5378/23 here I added these lines into my config.php without any effect:

'appstoreenabled' => true,
'appstoreurl' => 'https://apps.nextcloud.com/api/v0',

Is no one else having these issue?

I was trying a couple of things:

  • I removed Nextcloud including all appdata and reinstalled from scratch
  • stopped Nextcloud
  • copied just config.php from my old version
  • started Nextcloud
  • Nextcloud told me that it is forbidden to downgrade to version 9.x  :o

This is the file I copied: http://pastebin.com/awawUmLx

So I used my backup and have the old status. Interestingly enough both calendar and contacts are syncing but I am getting the error messages below.

I guess that I would need a fresh install but why was the approach above not working?

I assume because we've updated the container to V10.  (Not V11 yet, Sparklyballs is checking dependencies) Perhaps a fresh install and then copy the relevant bits of config.php might work better.

Hi,

I just migrated from aptalca's nginx-letsencrypt container to the one provided by Linuxserver.io.

Everything went fine and I can access my Nextcloud page via https and http just like before.

The iPhone App works aswell without any issue again.

But my desktop client on my Windows machine reports the following error since switching the container:

"Error downloading https://myserver.de/nextcloud/owncloud/status.php - server replied: Not Found"

I didn't change anything else but the Nginx container. Does anyone has a solution for this?

Thanks a lot CHBMB, I activated the apps within the database table. That worked but it is not ideal. That means the issue might be caused by MariaDB (I am using Needo's Docker).

I had to delete my docker image file for an unrelated issue and when i rebuilt it (my nextcloud wasnt updated before) it nows gives me this:

Update needed

Please use the command line updater because you have a big instance.

For help, see the documentation.

I have no idea how to fix it.  Any ideas?

Unable to create new users, found a bug post that seems similar,

https://github.com/nextcloud/server/issues/2734

But no clues on how to fix, anyone else ran into this?  I saw several people report that time discrepancies can be the cause.  I glanced around and while the Nextcloud docker is running GMT, and everything else CST, the actual time is correct for the time zone. Could the GMT/CST be at play? Or is this just some sort of other bug going on?

Look at "Additional settings" - "Password policy" and uncheck the enforcement options.
