Slow Unraid

Featured Replies

Hi all,

I have made a server for a friend after he was impressed with mine.

It is based on a Gigabyte 945 pl s3.

I loaded it with some files, and took it to his place. It ran slowly, only managing about 3.5 Megabytes per second. I seem to remember (although not sure) that when I put it together it was 12Mb/s.

My server runs fine at about 12Mb per sec on my 10/100 network, and upto 60Mb/s on my Gigabit net work.

Are there any obvious things I can do (perhaps in the Bios) to speed his server up. I have updated to Unraid 4.5 with no benefit.

Is it possible to put a new NIC ( I have a few old 10/100 cards) in or does Unraid need integrated NIC?

I am confused!

Thanks

I have now tried this on the Gigabit router, and I`m getting 58Mb/s , so there don`t seem to be any faults as such, but it looks like in built NIC wont play nice with 10/100 networks ( have tried 3- Safecom / Netgear and Thompson).

Will probably force this down to 10/100 with an old add on NIC.

Still confused!

Check cables etc... you should be getting about 12mb/s on a 100Mbit network....  If you already tried different cables and NIC's one might suggest the problem lies with his switch or PC.
