One of the drive LED's is out ? not sure if that means anything? Could someone give me direction form here please. Thanks Peter
July 4, 201610 yr Community Expert Begin by connecting a monitor to the server and see what the state of the server is. i.e., has it fully booted to unRAID! If it has, log in and type 'diagnostics' on the command line. It will write the Diagnostic file to the Flash Drive. type 'powerdown' at the command line. Now remove the Flash Drive and locate the Diagnostics file on the drive. (I believe it will be in the logs folder.) Attach that file to your next post.

Hi Frank I plugged a monitor in and just got a blck screen with a "no signal" response from the monitor, I dont even think its getting to the console. I press the button and its just like switching a light on and its not going through a boot process or a close down process. Peter
July 5, 20169 yr Community Expert If you are not seeing any BIOS/POST splash screens, then you have a startup issue with the system. It could be PS, MB, CPU or RAM. I would begin by disconnecting/removing all plugin cards and HD's. Then see if it will POST. With nothing connected, a successful POST will leave it complaining that it couldn't find a boot drive. It not, I would begin by replacing the PS as it is the quickest and cheapest to do.
July 12, 20169 yr Author Hi I could use some help here please. Firstly this is a server built professionally (NOT BY ME) commissioned by me. It was originally supplied with 6.1.3 and is currently only 6 months old. I upgraded it to run 6.1.9 which went absolutely fine the server has never been any trouble and is my second server. The other is still operational too The machine uses a flash card as opposed to a flash drive so all I have to do is replace the card if it craps out (which it has done) in this case.My older system also uses the same system to boot. I contacted the builder to ask advice and he suggested installing vanilla 6.1.3 and also over writing with the original 6.1.3 installation files which would recognize the drives. As I did not want to rebuild parity and more importantly Im worried about data loss. Fortunately I know which drive is the parity and there is only one drive that has data on it. The other two have been precleared but contain no data. I booted up the machine on 6.1.3 all the drives LEDS came up and I ran IPCONFIG to ascertain the address and it said not connected ? all the drive LEDS then go out except the parity drive. I have attached screen shot of IPCONFIG. I can here the beep from the box. I dont know why i cant get the Ip adddress why would it say offline when its clearly plugged in. Im not to great with this stuff so am I going to be better to bite the bullit here and completely reinstall 6.1.9 if thats the case some guidence in that would be really very welcome. I know I should have copied the contents of the flash folder to a safe place it was work in hand and to be honest I wasn't expecting a new machine to give me problems so early. its happened so lesson learnt I just want to get back up and running. July 12, 20169 yr This does state that it is connected to the network and has a local IP address of 192.168.1.130
July 12, 20169 yr This does state that it is connected to the network and has a local IP address of 192.168.1.130 That's ipconfig his windows box. Dunno why he posted that. What we need is the ifconfig from the local console of the unraid box.
July 15, 20169 yr Author Hi Sorry for the delay I have had not internet access for a number of days. I have no experience of the console but if it just connecting a monitor to t he box I have tried that and nothing happens. If there is a process around the conecting to the console please enlighten me as to what that is.
July 15, 20169 yr Author UPDATE# I have now installed clean copy of 6.1.9 all the drive lights are stable which is something but cant get to any console
July 15, 20169 yr Author UPDATE I have got to the GUI by using the router interface. Do I need to rebuild parity at this point as its not obvious at present. I have not done anything at this point in time.
July 15, 20169 yr TopTrainer, please pause and take a breath - otherwise you are in danger of losing all you data. What isn't at all clear is how you got from the state of having a server that won't POST to installing an earlier version of unRAID, to re-installing a later version, to contemplating rebuilding parity. Tell us what you have done to get your server to boot and attach your diagnostics, as explained by Frank. A problem like this needs to be sorted one step at a time.
July 16, 20169 yr Author John That is a good question and one I would love to answer, the fact is I don't know. Currently my server up running 6.1.9, parity is valid I let it sync. I do need to run a parity check. But my data appears to be present. The is something i would like some assistance with I would like to displays the disks rather than the shares I prefer to write directly to the disk. I dont recall how to displays disks not shares. Peter
July 16, 20169 yr Settings -> Global Share Settings -> Enable disk shares Turn on Help for more info. EDIT: And read the warning if you also use user shares.
